Open Enrollment for UC employees and retirees is from 8 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, through midnight on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 (Pacific Time).
This is the time of year to review your health and welfare benefits and make changes, if you choose to do so. This website offers the information you need to consider your choices. Look above and select “Employees” or “Retirees.” You will find information about UC’s health and welfare plans, who is eligible for coverage, summaries of plan changes for 2009, medical plan costs, tools to help you select the right health plan for you and your family, and much more.
The coming year, 2009, will be a year of stability when it comes to your UC benefits. And that’s good news — benefits-wise and dollar-wise — as the University has made a great effort to preserve your health benefits and control costs.
In 2008, the University made significant changes, including expanded programs for wellness and behavioral health and preventive care benefit improvements. Those programs will continue in 2009, even in this period of rising health care costs and tight State and University budgets.
If you decide to make changes, you can go to “Make Changes Now” and select the “Sign in” button, located at the top of any page of the Open Enrollment website.
If you make changes, your new coverage will be effective January 1, 2009.
If you are satisfied with your current coverage and do not need to make any changes for 2009, you do not need to take any action during Open Enrollment. Employees, however, should note that if you wish to participate in a Flexible Spending Account, you must enroll or re-enroll for 2009.
